What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a medical therapy which helps to detect, treat and prevent health problems. Osteopaths are highly trained professionals that are trained in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. The treatment can involve moving, stretching, manipulating and massaging your joints and muscles; therefore, it is classed as a ‘manual therapy’ treatment. Typically our patients will come to us suffering from back pain, neck pain, headaches, a sports injury or other joint e.g. hip, elbow, shoulder, knee and muscle pain and discomfort.

Does osteopathy work?

Osteopaths are recognized by the NHS as Allied Health Professionals. They are degree level trained and are highly skilled healthcare practitioners who provide manual therapy treatment that can help towards the recovery of a range of musculoskeletal complaints. Our profession is regulated by the General Osteopathic Council and Osteopathy is an alternative to a chiropractor or physiotherapist. If you are not sure if osteopathy treatment is suitable for you, please give us a call and we will be happy to advise.
