Further Counselling Information
At The Regent Counselling Practice we offer Person Centred Counselling however, there are many different types of counselling available and it may be helpful for you to consider which approach might suit you best. We have therefore put together a brief description of the three main counselling approaches. These will give you an idea of the beliefs each one is based on and you can find more detailed information at:

Person-Centred Counselling (also known as "Client-Centred" or Rogerian" counselling) -Person Centred recognises that we are all individual human beings who are worthy of respect and value. Entering into a non judgemental and accepting relationship with a counsellor can help someone to understand themselves better and in so doing see their way clear to resolving their difficulties and living life in a more satisfying manner
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT focuses on the links between thoughts, emotions and behaviour. It offers strategies and techniques to enable people to identify and change their unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with more rational and useful ways of thinking behaving and feeling
Psychodynamic Therapy - Psychodynamic therapy places emphasis on a person’s unconscious processes and how their childhood experiences influence and shape their lives in the present. The therapist focuses on the client’s early relationships with parents and other significant people and brings into awareness how these patterns may get replayed in the dynamics between counsellor and client.
