Forearm Compartment Syndrome

This is generally pain more around the forearm but often is an unfocused deep aching pain from the elbow to the upper wrist.

There are classically 6 "Ps" associated with compartment syndrome —pain out of proportion to what is expected based on the physical exam findings, paraesthesiapallor, paralysis, pulselessness, and pressure

Treatment

In its acute form this is a surgical emergence but generally, presentations to our clinic respond very well to

  • Ice
  • Rest
  • Acupuncture
  • Treatment to improve biomechanics

Again early, accurate diagnosis will ensure time is not wasted.
