Adam Sheridan celebrates 30th Anniversay as Osteop

Adam Sheridan, the founder, director and osteopath at the Rugby Osteopathic Centre celebrates his 30th anniversary as an osteopath this summer. His interest towards osteopathy already started when he was a child and experienced his father benefiting from the osteopathic treatment.

“The philosophy of osteopathy is that all of the bodies systems are interdependent. Therefore osteopathy treats the body as a whole and not just the symptomatic area. Without doing this, the source of the problem may not be found and the symptoms will recur”, says Adam.

After years of studies, which were a combination of academic, research and 1,000 hours of hands-on patient-facing clinical training, Adam qualified from the British School of Osteopathy (BSO), now called University College of Osteopathy, in 1988. He developed a special interest in Sports medicine working in the Sports Clinic at the BSO.

In 1989 Adam relocated and established the Rugby Osteopathic Centre, which has developed into one of the largest multidisciplinary practices in the Midlands. The team consists of five osteopaths, a physiotherapist and a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, and is complemented by an audiologist, counsellors and a homeopath. Furthermore, the team works closely with rehabilitation specialists; pilates, yoga and personal training experts, to get the best possible treatment for the patient and enabling the quickest recovery and preventing the problem recurring.

Adam said: “We all work closely together, and through our regular meetings we push and test our knowledge, so whether you need one treatment or a course of treatments you get the best available advice quickly and can make an informed decision about your recovery.”

Osteopathy is most known for treating back pain but there are many conditions that it can treat; neck and hip pain, muscle and joint pain, osteoarthritis, sciatica and sports injuries. It is suitable for all ages from newborns to elderly, and also during and after pregnancy.

The Rugby Osteopathic Centre turns 30 next year, so we are already planning some celebrations to mark this big day!

About Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a therapy which helps to detect, treat and prevent health problems. The principle is that the well-being of an individual depends on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together.

Osteopathy is recognised and recommended by The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a treatment option for lower back pain, also with sciatica.

Osteopathy is regulated by The General Osteopathic Council and by law all practicing osteopaths need to be registered with them.
