Knee Injuries

Osteopaths will often encounter patients with knee pain .Commonly it will be their primary complaint and they will not have been to see any other practitioner so accurate diagnosis is essential. Along with examination of your knees we will examine your hip, low back and foot mechanics to determine referred pain patterns and contributory and maintaining factors. Most importantly, having the knowledge to know when further tests such as x-rays, scans and when referral to specialist knee surgeon will be required.

Knee pain can be a source of significant disability, restricting the ability to work, exercise or perform activities of daily living, so at the Rugby Osteopathic Centre we feel getting an accurate diagnosis and a carefully constructed treatment and rehabilitation plan is vital.

Treatment will depend on the specific diagnosis and will include;

  • Treatment to improve biomechanics
  • Rehabilitation exercise programme

In a small number of cases we will need to obtain the opinion of a surgeon. We have had very good reports from patient about two specialist knee surgeons in our area and so are current recommending the following;
